Epic Seven: Top 10 Best Mage Heroes

Mages are a unique class in Epic Seven, having a great balance between damage and utility.

Most mages have forms of CC in their kit, applying various debuffs to supplement their damage.

They’re perfect with offensive items that also grant effectiveness.

With access to great artifacts like Kal’adra & Crimson Moon of Nightmares, there’s plenty of ways to include a mage in your favorite team setup.

I’ll be going through the 10 best mages in Epic Seven.

These heroes are some of the best for PvP & PvE, consult your hero list to see if you have any of them!

10. Mistychain

Attribute: Ice

Recommended Set: Crit Chance/Crit Damage

How to get: 3* Covenant Summon

Skills

Vampirism
Curse of Banshee
Life Drain
Claws the enemy absorbing some of the damage to heal all allies.
Casts a spell at the enemy with a 80% chance to make them unhealable and decrease Attack for 2 turns.
Burn Effect: Increases damage dealt.

Attacks by absorbing the enemy’s life force. Some of the damage dealt is absorbed to heal all allies. When the enemy is defeated, grants revive to the ally with the lowest Health for 2 turns.

Summary

The best budget DPS/debuffer you can get for Wyvern.

Mistychain is an easily obtainable 3* hero to include alongside a defense breaker, tank & primary DPS.

Wyvern deals significantly reduced damage when it has 3 or more debuffs, and a ton of damage is required to bypass its shield.

Mistychain has little use outside of Wyvern though, so you can replace her when you get a better Ice hero, like Sigret.

9. Researcher Carrot

Attribute: Fire

Recommended Set: Attack/Effectiveness

How to get: Specialty Change

Skills

Swing
Flame Barrier (Passive)
Blaze Explosion
Attacks with a staff, with a 35% chance to decrease Speed for 2 turns, before detonating burn effects inflicted on the enemy at the end of the turn.
After being attacked, grants the caster a barrier for 1 turn and burns the attacker for 1 turn. Barrier effect can only be activated once per turn, and barrier strength increases proportional to the caster’s Attack.
Burn Effect: Grants an extra turn.

Attack with powerful fire, dispelling one buff before a 60% chance each to inflict two burn effects for 2 turns.

Summary

Researcher Carrot is currently a powerful force in PvP, with her specialty change granting a ton of additional bonuses like regeneration & effectiveness.

Upon being attacked, she’ll grant herself a barrier and apply the burn debuff.

Innate tankiness allows her to invest fully into attack, increasing the damage of her burns.

8. Luluca

Attribute: Ice

Recommended Set: Speed/Effectiveness

How to get: 5* Covenant Summon

Skills

Wild Wave
Reko’s Blessing
Wave of Vengeance
Attacks with intense elemental force, with a 50% chance to decrease Defense for 2 turns. Damage dealt increases proportional to the amount of the enemy’s lost Health.
Burn Effect: Skill cooldown is decreased by 2 turns.

With the blessing of the stars, grants increased Defense and barrier to all allies for 2 turns. Barrier strength increases proportional to the caster’s Attack.
Attacks all enemies with the power of ruin, with a 60% chance to decrease Defense for 2 turns, before increasing the caster’s Attack. This effect can stack up to 3 times.

Summary

One of the most diverse mage heroes, Luluca is an exceptional defense breaker for certain abyss floors & labyrinth bosses.

Her skill 2 is also great as an increase defense buff provides tons of sustainability to allied heroes.

Overall she’s a good character for PvP & PvE, but only in specific situations.

7. Politis

Attribute: Fire

Recommended Set: Speed/Immunity

How to get: 5* Covenant Summon

Skills

Call of the Stars
Astral Guide (Passive)
Starfall
Burn Effect: Grants an extra turn.

Summons dolls to attack the enemy, with a 25% chance to stun for 1 turn.
When the enemy is not an Elite or Boss monster, reduces the effect of Combat Readiness granted to the enemy by 50%. This effect does not stack with other passive effects of the same name. Activates Tranquility when an enemy uses a non-attack skill. Tranquility can be activated once every 2 turns.

Tranquility: Attacks all enemies, decreasing buff durations by 1 turn, before increasing Combat Readiness of the caster by 30%.
Attacks all enemies with alien technology, with a 75% chance each to decrease Hit Chance and make them unable to be buffed for 2 turns.

Summary

Politis is simply a counter to certain PvP builds.

Many teams employ specific heroes to buff combat readiness to allow the main DPS units to put more stats into attack/crit, rather than speed.

Challenger Dominiel is a great example of this, but Politis can basically nullify her abilities.

Even then, Politis will significantly reduce any buffs granted by non-attack skills.

Not every team will employ these tactics but if they do, Politis is an insta-win!

6. Tenebria

Attribute: Fire

Recommended Set: Crit Chance/Crit Damage

How to get: 5* Covenant Summon

Skills

Dark Explosion
Ominous Thunder
Nightmare
Attacks with an explosion of dark energy, with a 60% chance to put them to sleep for 1 turn. When the enemy is put to sleep, the caster’s Combat Readiness increases by 50%. This skill does not trigger a Dual attack.
Summons ominous thunder to attack all enemies, decreasing Combat Readiness by 20%, before decreasing Speed for 2 turns.
Burn Effect: Increases damage dealt.

Drops Moon of Nightmare on all enemies, with a 70% chance to decrease Defense for 2 turns and put them to sleep for 1 turn, before increasing Attack of the caster for 2 turns.

Summary

Tenebria strikes a perfect balance between damage and CC.

If you use her as a dual attacker, she doubles up as a potent single-target & AoE attacking threat.

Particularly good against PvE bosses who love to spam mobs, Tenebria is especially powerful in the Automation Tower.

5. Champion Zerato

Attribute: Dark

Recommended Set: Lifesteal/Effectiveness

How to get: 4* Moonlight Summon

Skills

Earthen Rage
Iron Will (Passive)
Cataclysm
Attacks two enemies including the target with an earthen blast, transferring two debuffs from the caster to the enemy and recovering the caster’s Health. Amount recovered increases proportional to the caster’s max Health.

Summary

Fully built for PvP, Champion Zerato is a frustrating hero for any team to face.

Watching the AI waste their biggest skills to debuff your team, only for Zerato to counter and transfer them is hilarious.

Build him full lifesteal so he recovers his entire health bar every time he counters 🙂

4. Basar

Attribute: Earth

Recommended Set: Speed/Effectiveness

How to get: 5* Covenant Summon

Skills

Sand Wind
Hurricane
Sandstorm
Attacks with magic, with a 50% chance to transfer one debuff from the caster to the enemy before inflicting a random debuff for 2 turns.
Attacks all enemies by releasing a hot sand hurricane, with a 60% chance to decrease Hit Chance and Attack for 2 turns.
Burn Effect: Ignores Effect Resistance.

Summary

One of the best PvP debuffers in the game, Basar is a staple of any aspiring Arena player.

Fully investing his build into speed & effectiveness will allow you to conquer pretty much any PvP team you’ll encounter.

Starting a battle off with his skill 3 makes the entire enemy team vulnerable, ready for your DPS to follow up for big damage.

3. Specter Tenebria

Recommended Set: Crit Chance/Crit Damage

How to get: 5* Moonlight Summon

Skills

Poison Blast
Nightmare Illusion (Passive)
Endless Nightmare
Burn Effect: Grants an extra turn.

When an ally capable of being attacked is still remaining, the caster will not be attacked. Increases Attack and Defense of the caster by 7% every time somebody dies. Effect can only stack up to 5 times.
Attacks with a nightmare crystal, stunning for 1 turn. Decreases the Combat Readiness of all remaining enemies by 50% when an enemy dies. Damage dealt increases proportional to the number of debuffs inflicted on the enemy.

Summary

Specter Tenebria is one of the best moonlight blessings due to her high damage, CC & survivability.

Regardless of the game mode you’re playing, all DPS heroes are prone to being ganked by enemy mobs or heroes.

S. Tenebria’s built-in stealth keeps her alive throughout the fight.

Her base stats are very high, so simply build her for full damage and she’ll power through Adventure mode, while providing a high DPS hero for PvP.

2. Auxiliary Lots

Attribute: Dark

Recommended Set: Speed/Effectiveness

How to get: 4* Moonlight Summon

Skills

Black Magic
Mana Injection
Desolation
Attacks with a magic sphere, increasing caster’s Combat Readiness by 15%.
Injects an ally with mana, increasing Attack for 2 turns and increasing Combat Readiness by 80%, before granting the caster increased Attack for 2 turns and a 30% increase in Combat Readiness.
Burn Effect: Grants an extra turn.

Attacks all enemies by releasing strong Mana, with a 50% chance to silence for 2 turns.

Summary

Fielding a powerful skill set for dominating all aspects of Epic Seven, Auxiliary Lots is the perfect partner for a powerful DPS.

If you’re able to give him enough speed to go first in the majority of PvP battles, use his skill 2 to make sure your DPS goes next, with an attack buff.

It’s a great strategy to provide fast wins.

He’s also great against bosses in Abyss, Hell Raid & Expeditions as they all need a ton of DPS to get through successfully.

1. Dizzy

Attribute: Ice

Recommended Set: Speed/Effectiveness

How to get: 5* Limited Summon

Skills

I Used This to Catch Fish
Gamma Ray
Emotional Gamma Ray
Attacks all enemies with the power of magic, with a 25% chance to stun for 1 turn. Deals increased damage to debuffed enemies.
Attacks all enemies with a powerful ray, extending the duration of debuffs by 1 turn, except for those which prevent the enemy from moving, before decreasing Combat Readiness by 50%.
Burn Effect: Grants an extra turn.

Unleashes a giant explosion to attack all enemies. The attack misses, but inflicts decreased Speed, Attack and Decrease Hit Chance for 2 turns regardless.

Summary

Dizzy is a limited hero with a huge degree of debuffing power.

In Adventure mode, Labyrinth, Abyss & Automation Tower, she can invalidate a myriad of boss fights.

Try to build her with at least 150% effectiveness and 200 speed. If she goes before any enemies, the debuffs will be enough to secure victory.
