Dark heroes are quite under-represented in Epic Seven, with just 47 existing in the game.
They’re good choices for PvP teams, as there’s no specific elemental advantage that counters them.
Light heroes do gain a damage buff when attacking but Dark heroes don’t fall into the Earth->Ice->Fire side of battles.
These heroes tend to be particularly powerful too, both in PvP and PvE.
With all that being said, Dark heroes are difficult to obtain, especially early on.
Newer players may only get one or two of these heroes in the first 3 months of playing!
If you’re looking to build a PvP team, or find a good PvE farmer, consult this list for the best Dark heroes in Epic Seven.
10. Kitty Clarissa
Class: Warrior
Recommended Set: Speed/Immunity
How to get: 4* Mystic Summon
Skills
Get Away, Meow! | Meow I’m Angry! | I’m So Cute, Meow |
Attacks with a morning star. Damage dealt increases proportional to the caster’s max Health. If the caster is granted loveliness, triggers Dual Attack from the ally with the highest Attack. | Burn Effect: Ignores effect resistance. Attacks all enemies with a morning star while raging, with a 60% chance to decrease buff duration by 2 turns and make them unhealable for 2 turns. If the caster is granted loveliness, effect chance increases by 20%. | Wiggles tail cutely, decreasing debuff duration on all allies by 2 turns, and granting the caster immunity and loveliness for 3 turns. Granting an extra turn. |
Summary
Regarded as an excellent opener for PvP battles, Kitty Clarissa excels at debuffing enemies and applying the Unhealable debuff.
With high base speed, all you need is some decent speed stat items to get her going first.
Try to build her with HP substats as she’s quite squishy without some bonus HP.
Enemy teams almost always start with barriers, immunity, or both. Dispelling them straight away is a huge advantage!
9. Troublemaker Crozet
Class: Knight
Recommended Set: Speed/Immunity
How to get: 4* Moonlight Summon
Skills
Pledgeguard | Chivalry (Passive) | Oath of Protection |
Burn Effect: Increases Effect chance by 60%. Attacks the enemy in an act of faith, with a 20% chance to stun for 1 turn. When it is not the caster’s turn, effect chance increases by 20%. Damage dealt increases proportional to the caster’s max Health. | Receives 20% of damage suffered by the ally in the back row in their place. Only the highest damage distribution effect will be applied. When the ally in the back row is attacked, increases the caster’s Combat Readiness by 20% and has a 35% chance to counterattack. | Swears an oath of protection, dispelling all debuffs from the caster and one ally, before increasing Defense for 3 turns. Grants class enhancement to the ally for 3 turns. Class Enhancement Thief, Warrior, Ranger, Mage: Increased Critical Hit Resistance. Knight, Soul Weaver: Barrier (Barrier strength is proportional to the caster’s max Health). |
Summary
This Dark Knight hero excels alongside a main carry, taking 20% of their damage, counter-attacking when they’re attacked, and providing some nice buffs too.
A base 40% chance to stun when counter-attacking really makes him live up to his Troublemaker name.
Building him speed is essential so you can get his defense buff up as soon as possible.
Troublemaker Crozet appears in the list of Best Tank Heroes.
8. Assassin Cidd
Class: Thief
Recommended Set: Speed/Crit Chance
How to get: 4* Moonlight Summon
Skills
Slice | Swift Action (Passive) | Execution |
Attacks with an axe, with a 40% chance to decrease Defense for 2 turns. Damage dealt increases proportional to the caster’s Speed. | When somebody dies, caster is granted increased Attack for 1 turn and Combat Readiness increases by 15%. | Burn Effect: Increases damage dealt. Attacks the enemy with a powerful ground pound, silencing them for 1 turn and decreasing their Combat Readiness by 50%, before increasing Evasion Chance of the caster for 2 turns. Damage dealt increases proportional to the caster and the enemy’s speed. Removes 20 Souls from the opponent. |
Summary
Of all assassin based heroes in Epic Seven, Cidd’s moonlight variant is the best.
High base speed allows you to hit 240+ speed quite easily, going first to silence the most threatening enemy.
His ability to remove souls is invaluable in World Arena too.
Of course, if you can’t build him for at least 200 speed, definitely wait until you get better gear.
7. Blood Moon Haste
Class: Soul Weaver
Recommended Set: Speed/HP
How to get: 5* Moonlight Summon
Skills
Blood Scythe | Grudge (Passive) | Moon Slash |
Burn Effect: Ignores Effect Resistance. Attacks by swinging a scythe, dispelling one buff. Damage dealt increases proportional to the caster’s max Health. | When an enemy is revived, grants all allies a barrier and immunity for 1 turn and resets the cooldown of Moon Slash. Barrier strength increases proportional to the caster’s max Health. | Attacks with a scythe, recovering Health of all allies. Penetrates Defense, but cannot trigger a critical hit. Damage dealt and amount recovered increases proportional to the caster’s max Health. Decreases damage suffered by allies by 10% when this skill is available. When more than one damage reduction effect is granted, only the strongest effect is applied. |
Summary
Mostly a supportive hero, Blood Moon Haste is the perfect option against revive teams, especially those who run Arbiter Vildred, or Roana.
You definitely want to build as many HP substats as possible, no more than 180 speed is needed on him.
His passive is all but useless against enemy teams who don’t run revive, though.
6. Martial Artist Ken
Class: Warrior
Recommended Set: Lifesteal/Crit Chance
How to get: 5* Moonlight Summon
Skills
Knockout | Dragon Flame (Passive) | The Coming of Asura |
Batters the enemy with a 50% chance to decrease Attack for 1 turn. | Increases Effect Resistance by 30%. Has a 30% chance to counterattack when attacked, with a 100% chance to counterattack with Dragon Flame after suffering a critical hit. Dragon Flame: Makes a critical hit, dealing damage proportional to the caster’s lost Health. When The Coming of Asura is available, increases Combat Readiness by 25%. This attack receives effects that are applied to the basic skill. | Burn Effect: Increases damage dealt. Attacks all enemies with a powerful ground pound with a 55% chance to decrease Defense for 2 turns and increase Attack of the caster for 2 turns. A successful attack always results in a critical hit. |
Summary
Few heroes are capable of taking on entire teams by themselves, this Ken variant has all the tools to be a nightmare to defeat.
Built-in effect resistance can be bolstered by additional substats, try to get 200% effect resistance total.
Otherwise, build for attack and crit chance/damage.
His constant counter-attacks will reheal him due to the lifesteal set.
Speed isn’t even necessary, being attacked first is fine. And don’t worry about being stunned, silencing or speed reduced, thanks to his effect resistance!
Just wait until you hit Abyss Floor 86, you’ll understand just how frustrating Martial Artist Ken is.
5. Auxiliary Lots
Class: Mage
Recommended Set: Speed/Effectiveness
How to get: 4* Moonlight Summon
Skills
Black Magic | Mana Injection | Desolation |
Attacks with a magic sphere, increasing caster’s Combat Readiness by 15%. | Injects an ally with mana, increasing Attack for 2 turns and increasing Combat Readiness by 80%, before granting the caster increased Attack for 2 turns and a 30% increase in Combat Readiness. | Burn Effect: Grants an extra turn. Attacks all enemies by releasing strong Mana, with a 50% chance to silence for 2 turns. |
Summary
Used almost exclusively as a super fast opener, existing solely to hit close to 300 speed to always start the battle himself.
Auxiliary lots is perfect alongside a carry with low speed, as his skill 2 will force that carry to go next, with an attack boost too.
The chance to silence on his skill 3 is another great ability but in reality, you just want him to buff your carry so you can take out an enemy or two before they get their turns.
4. Sinful Angelica
Class: Soul Weaver
Recommended Set: Speed/Immunity
How to get: 4* Moonlight Summon
Skills
Debilitating Strike | Soul Harvest (Passive) | Dark Salvation |
Burn Effect: Increases effect chance to 100% and decreases Attack of the target for 2 turns. Attacks with a staff, with a 65% chance to decrease Attack for 1 turn. When the caster is immortal, triggers a Dual Attack from the ally with the highest Attack. | When the caster is immortal, enemies cannot be revived and all allies recover Health every time an enemy dies. Amount recovered increases proportional to the target’s max Health. Recover effect can only be activated once per turn. | Whips up a vortex of darkness and loathing, granting immortality to the caster for 2 turns. Grants increased Attack and Speed to all allies except for the caster for 2 turns. |
Summary
Used mostly for a Wyvern 13 one-shot build, Sinful Angelica can massively increase the rate at which you gear the rest of your heroes.
We all struggle to gear our heroes, especially when Epic Seven is so eager to give you powerful new ones.
This Dark hero is also pretty good for PvP, particularly alongside a proper healer.
3. Apocalypse Ravi
Class: Warrior
Recommended Set: Counter/Immunity
How to get: 5* Moonlight Summon
Skills
Spectral Axe | War God’s Might (Passive) | Deliverance: Soul Exchange |
Burn Effect: Greatly increases amount of damage dealt. Does not trigger a Dual Attack. Attacks the enemy with an axe, inflicting injuries before absorbing some of the damage dealt as Health. Damage dealt increases proportional to the caster’s max Health. The severity of injuries increases proportional to damage dealt. Injuries decrease max Health of the target by up to 10% every time this skill is used. | Increases Critical Hit Chance by 30%. Starts the first battle with 50 Fighting Spirit. At the moment the caster is attacked, consumes 10 Fighting Spirit to increase Combat Readiness of the caster by 15% and recovers the caster’s Health. Amount recovered increases proportional to the caster’s max Health. | Delivers divine judgment down upon the enemy. When an enemy is defeated, revives one random dead ally with 30% Health and increases their Combat Readiness by 100% before granting Skill Nullifier once. Damage dealt increases proportional to the caster’s max Health. Damage dealt by this skill increases every time somebody dies. Effect can only stack up to 3 times. |
Summary
A hard hero to obtain and build, but one that will almost guarantee free wins consistently in PvP.
Her kit does so much, having anti-tank capabilities, health regeneration and even providing skill nullifiers.
Many players are frankly sick of facing her.
Her passive to buff crit chance means you only have to aim for 70% provided by gear, that could be an extra 30% attack!
2. Straze
Class: Warrior
Recommended Set: Speed/Immunity
How to get: 5* Moonlight Summon
Skills
Powerful Strike | Destructive Gaze | Star Extinction |
Swings a sword to attack the enemy and increases Combat Readiness of the caster by 20%. | Burn Effect: Skill cooldown is decreased by 2 turns. Attacks all enemies with a wave of force and dispels two buffs. Ignores Effect Resistance of any targets with Attack lower than the caster’s Attack. When there are three or fewer enemies, damage dealt increases with fewer enemies. | Attacks all enemies with a sword. Penetrates Defense of the target with the highest max Health by 30%. When the caster’s Attack is greater than the penetration target’s Attack, penetration rate increases proportional to the difference, up to a maximum of 100%. Grants invincibility to the caster for 1 turn. |
Summary
Primary antagonist of Episode 2, Straze has been dominating the Epic Seven scene since his arrival.
Very high base offensive stats means your best gear fits perfectly on him, you may have experienced his power when using him as a supportive hero.
As a 5* Moonlight Summon, it’ll be difficult to get your hands on him.
Keep an eye out for banners in the future, he’s too popular for SmileGate to keep him locked up for so long.
1. Arbiter Vildred
Class: Thief
Recommended Set: Crit Chance/Crit Damage
How to get: 5* Moonlight Summon
Skills
Sweep | Dark Contract (Passive) | Dark Blade |
Rapidly attacks two enemies with a Swordstorm, decreasing their Combat Readiness by 10%. | After receiving lethal damage, caster regenerates to 70% Health, 100% Combat Readiness, full Focus, and reset cooldown for Dark Blade. | Burn Effect: Increases damage dealt. Attacks all enemies, decreasing Hit Chance for 2 turns. When Focus is full, consumes it all, increasing damage dealt. When the enemy is defeated with this skill, cooldown does not occur. |
Summary
Capable of sweeping entire arena teams, adventure stages & labyrinths by himself, this Dark hero is immensely powerful.
You don’t have to build him with any speed, go for full damage.
He’ll be killed quickly in PvP battles but will immediately resurrect and cast his skill 3.
If you have a good 4000 attack, 100% crit chance and 300% crit damage (definitely achievable), you’ll easily get to Master tier or higher!
No other hero in the game will provide as much power in PvP & PvE as Arby.
Arbiter Vildred keeps topping lists, coming 1st in the lists for Best Thief Heroes & Best Moonlight Blessings.
