Epic Seven: Top 10 Best Counter-Attacking Heroes

0
9

Epic Seven has tons of unique heroes with different play-styles, counter-based heroes aren’t too common but they’re some of the most fun to use.

Particularly good for newer players, avoid those speed match-ups with a good counter hero to hit them hard without even getting a turn!

The best way to get items is through Hunts, with the Banshee dropping Counter set gear. However, building a Banshee team is tedious or outright impossible for newer players. But you do get a few counter sets by playing other content, like Adventure, Abyss, Labyrinth & Arena.

Every player should have at least 1 counter-based hero in their arsenal to utilise these counter sets, the hero you equip them with is dependant on who you’ve received through summons.

If you have multiple heroes who can make use of a counter set, you’ll want to make sure you’re putting them on the right hero.

That being said, if you really don’t want to invest your resources into a counter set, there are a bunch of heroes who have the ability to counter built into their kit already!

Using this list, you’ll be able to determine the best counter-attacking heroes in Epic Seven and even be able to build a competitive counter-attack team!

10. Mort

Attribute: Earth

Class: Knight

Recommended Set: Counter/Immunity

Recommended Artifact: Elbris Ritual Sword

How to get: 5* Covenant Summon

Skills

ExterminationAbsolute Dignity (Passive)Advent: Mortelix
Burn Effect: Increases effect chance to 100%.

Pierces the enemy, with a 40% chance to decrease Defense for 2 turns. Ignores Effect Resistance when caster is enraged. Damage increases proportional to the caster’s max Health.
Immune to stun and sleep. Has a 30% chance to counterattack when attacked. If the caster inflicts a critical hit when using a basic attack, has a 40% chance to activate Sacred Blessing. Can be activated once every 2 turns.

Sacred Blessing: Increases Critical Hit Resistance of all allies for 1 turn and increases Speed of the caster for 2 turns.
Descends and attacks all enemies, inflicting injuries. The caster becomes enraged for 2 turns and recovers Health. Damage dealt and amount recovered increase proportional to the caster’s max Health. The severity of injuries increases proportional to the damage dealt. Injuries decrease the max Health of the target by up to 20% every time this skill is used.

Mort is finally living up to expectations, with him receiving some hefty buffs this year (2021).

He’s now a particularly Knight hero

If you can, try to get HP% and Def% sub-stats on his items. Mort is not going to 1v4 an entire team, but he will significantly reduce their maximum HP via injuries, as well as reduce their defense and provide crit resistance for your team.

Mort is definitely more of a PvP-based hero who excels against tanky Earth/Ice attribute teams!

9. Fighter Maya

Attribute: Light

Class: Knight

Recommended Set: Counter/Crit Chance

Recommended Artifact: Elbris Ritual Sword

How to get: 4* Moonlight Summon

Skills

Strike of ProvocationReclaim (Passive)Finishing Attack
Burn Effect: Provoke chance increases to 100%.

Attacks with a blunt weapon, with a 75% chance to provoke for 1 turn. Damage dealt increases proportional to the caster’s Defense.
Has a 80% chance to dispel one debuff and be granted increased Defense for 2 turns when attacked.Attacks with a powerful smash. Damage dealt increases by 300% if the enemy’s Health is less than 30%. Damage dealt increases proportional to the caster’s Defense. Grants the caster an extra turn when the enemy is defeated.

Fighter Maya flies under the radar in the Epic Seven community

You build her to reach 100% crit chance since her abilities actually do a ton of base damage, you don’t need much additional crit damage, but the stats into health or defense instead.

A whopping 75% chance to provoke is insane, especially when you consider Elbris Ritual Sword, which gives her a chance to counter-attack whenever an ally is attacked.

Overall, she’s a versatile Knight hero who can perform well against teams that don’t contain defense breakers.

8. Archdemon’s Shadow

Attribute: Dark

Class: Mage

Recommended Set: Counter/Immunity

Recommended Artifact: Iela Violin

How to get: 5* Moonlight Summon

Skills

Touch of ChaosTwisted Power (Passive)Dissolution
Burn Effect: Increases effect chance to 100%.

Has a 50% chance to seal the enemy for 2 turns, before attacking with lightning.
Decreases damage suffered from a critical hit by 20%. When more than one damage reduction effect is granted, only the strongest effect is applied. After using Touch of Chaos, has a 35% chance to activate Burst. Effect is doubled when target is sealed.

Burst: Attacks all enemies, with a 60% chance to decrease Hit Chance for 1 turn, before increasing the caster’s Combat Readiness by 25% and gaining 1 Focus.
Attacks all enemies with the power of Ilryos, with a 75% chance to inflict two burn effects for 2 turns. Grants the caster an extra turn. This skill cannot trigger a counterattack.

One of the most unique heroes in the game, Mercedes’ Archdemon variant is either the most powerful hero in the game or utterly useless, depending on how your RNG goes.

The Seal debuff prevents passive effects from activating (Seaside Bellona’s passive for example). It only works against heroes.

Her strength potential lies in her 2nd skill, as it can even proc from a dual or counter attack!

Let’s say the enemy Violet attacks your precious Angelica, Archdemon’s Shadow can counter with Touch of Chaos which, if it seals the Violet, will then attack all enemies with Burst, increasing the caster’s combat readiness.

She activates so many skills it’s crazy, with her having the potential to activate 3 attacks in one turn.

Combine with Iela Violin (chance to dispel a buff from an enemy after attacking) for some amazing utility too.

With all that being said, sometimes RNG can be against you and she never counters, or applies her seal, or procs her passive, etc.

Definitely build her for the memes though, few heroes are as fun to use. 🙂

7. Destina

Attribute: Earth

Class: Soul Weaver

Recommended Set: Counter/Immunity

Recommended Artifact: Celestine

How to get: 5* Covenant Summon

Skills

Key to an OathRegenDestina’s Grace
Burn Effect: Attacks the enemy and greatly heals all allies. Does not trigger a Dual Attack.

Attacks the enemy with a staff and heals the ally with the lowest Health. Healing increases proportional to the target’s max Health.
Blesses an ally, recovering their Health and increasing their Combat Readiness by 50%. Healing increases proportional to the caster’s max Health.Grants all allies the blessing of a Spirit Lord, dispelling all debuffs before recovering Health. When an ally is debuffed, their Combat Readiness will also be increased by 15% per debuff. This effect can only be applied up to 4 times. Amount recovered increases proportional to the caster’s max Health.

Realistically, Destina is the only Soul Weaver who can make use of a counter set since her basic skill heals the lowest health ally.

Sometimes you end up with a counter set that has godly defensive stats, but little to no offensive stats.

The Celestine artifact provides even more heals when she uses her basic skill.

Knowing the bruisers, tanks & healers who can make use of such equipment is really important, otherwise you could waste some really good gear (and we all know how much of a gear grind Epic Seven is).

6. Landy

Attribute: Earth

Class: Ranger

Recommended Set: Counter/Immunity

Recommended Artifact: Otherworldly Machinery

How to get: 5* Limited Summon

Skills

FireThe Chief is on the Scene (Passive)Full Burst
Fires at the enemy and increases the caster’s Combat Readiness by 10%. Combat Readiness increase and amount of Fighting Spirit gained are doubled when the enemy is buffed.Increases the caster’s attack by 15% after attacking. Effect can only stack up to 3 times. Gains 10 Fighting Spirit for each buff granted on the enemy, and when the Fighting Spirit is full, resets skill cooldown. Starts the first battle with 50 Fighting Spirit.Burn Effect: Grants an extra turn.

Fires at all enemies and grants all allies increased Speed for 2 turns, before increasing their Combat Readiness by 15%. When Fighting Spirit is full, consumes all Fighting Spirit to penetrate the target’s Defense by 50%. This skill cannot trigger a counterattack.

There are two ways to build Landy, either full speed with 4000 attack, or the counter bruiser variant.

This entry focuses on Landy’s bruiser side, which is an absolute nightmare for an opponent to face.

Her passive boosts her attack by an obscene amount after three attacks, even a 3000 attack Landy will have over 4000 attack.

Players tend to end up with around 3000 attack, 1200 defense, 14,000 health & 270% crit damage.

Since she does so much damage, enemies are forced to focus her down as fast as possible.

With such defensive stats she’ll not only survive the barrage but also reply in kind with her own devastating attacks!

In terms of artifacts, counter/bruiser Landy can make use of just about anything that fits.

I do prefer Landy as a speed-based opener so it’s purely up to you when it comes to her build.

5. Champion Zerato

Attribute: Dark

Class: Mage

Recommended Set: Lifesteal/Effectiveness

Recommended Artifact: Iela Violin

How to get: 4* Moonlight Summon

Skills

ExterminationAbsolute DignityAdvent: Mortelix

Champion Zerato is a powerful and easily obtainable hero to hold your hand through many Arena battles and PvE stages.

His immunity to stuns & sleeps is great against many enemy team compositions, as well as bosses in Adventure & Abyss.

Built-in counter-attacking passive means you can look to develop his other stats, a bruiser build works best.

Make him tanky with a lifesteal set, he’ll be an absolute menace.

A slight over-reliance on being debuffed is his only weakness, so he’s not great for PvP defense teams.

He can work with a variety of artifacts but Iela Violin is preferred as it can debuff enemies after each counter-attack, making him a bigger pain to deal with!

4. Violet

Attribute: Earth

Class: Thief

Recommended Set: Lifesteal/Crit Chance

Recommended Artifact: Moonlight Dreamblade

How to get: 5* Covenant Summon

Skills

Graceful CutDuel AcceptedButterfly Cut
Burn Effect: Increases effect chance to 100% and decreases Attack of the target for 2 turns.

Attacks with a sword, with a 65% chance to decrease Attack for 1 turn. When it is not the caster’s turn, increases Combat Readiness by 15% and gains double the amount of Focus.
Prepares for a duel by dispelling two debuffs and granting perception for 3 turns before recovering Health by 15%. Grants an extra turn to the caster.

Perception: Increases Critical Hit Chance and Critical Hit Damage by 15%. Perception cannot be dispelled.
Pierces the enemy with a sword, and loses all Focus. Damage dealt increases proportional to the amount of Focus consumed. If 5 Focus is consumed, resets cooldown of Butterfly Cut. When Butterfly Cut is available, increases Evasion by 35%, and after successfully evading, counterattacks with Graceful Cut.

My personal favorite hero in Epic Seven, Violet has won me so, so many PvP fights it’s unbelievable.

Alongside Moonlight Dreamblade (artifact), Violet has a whopping 55% chance to dodge attacks, before counter-attacking.

Upon striking the enemy with his basic skill, he has a good chance to decrease their attack, as well as a few other advantages if it wasn’t his turn.

My Violet is built for full Speed/Crit, rather than lifesteal, as I prefer him attacking first to decrease the attack of an enemy DPS hero.

That’s just my play-style, lifesteal Violet is far better for utterly dominating entire teams.

I’ll be writing a list of my best heroes in the future so feel free to check out my build when it’s finished. 🙂

3. Apocalypse Ravi

Attribute: Dark

Class: Warrior

Recommended Set: Counter/Immunity

Recommended Artifact: Crimson Seed

How to get: 5* Moonlight Summon

Skills

Spectral AxeWar God’s Might (Passive)Deliverance: Soul Exchange
Burn Effect: Greatly increases amount of damage dealt. Does not trigger a Dual Attack.

Attacks the enemy with an axe, inflicting injuries before absorbing some of the damage dealt as Health. Damage dealt increases proportional to the caster’s max Health. The severity of injuries increases proportional to damage dealt. Injuries decrease max Health of the target by up to 10% every time this skill is used.
Increases Critical Hit Chance by 30%. Starts the first battle with 50 Fighting Spirit. At the moment the caster is attacked, consumes 10 Fighting Spirit to increase Combat Readiness of the caster by 15% and recovers the caster’s Health. Amount recovered increases proportional to the caster’s max Health.Delivers divine judgment down upon the enemy. When an enemy is defeated, revives one random dead ally with 30% Health and increases their Combat Readiness by 100% before granting Skill Nullifier once. Damage dealt increases proportional to the caster’s max Health. Damage dealt by this skill increases every time somebody dies. Effect can only stack up to 3 times.

The Injury debuff is one of the best you can apply en masse, with A. Ravi spreading it across entire teams with a counter set.

You literally just build her full tank and watch as the enemy team has no choice but to watch their allies lose their fighting spirit.

On top of all that, she has a revive, 30% bonus critical chance, and a combat readiness boost when she’s attacked.

Crimson Seed is there as her artifact to prevent debuffs. Things like burns, speed reductions & defense breaks can really mess her up.

All that being said, her being a 5* Moonlight Summon makes her very rare and valuable.

You also need really good items to make her work, I’m talking a counter set with extreme defensive stats.

If you manage to obtain her and build her well, you’ll surely zip your way to the highest rankings!

2. Martial Artist Ken

Attribute: Dark

Class: Warrior

Recommended Set: Strak Gauntlet

Recommended Artifact: Lifesteal/Crit Chance

How to get: 5* Moonlight Summon

Skills

KnockoutDragon Flame (Passive)The Coming of Asura
Batters the enemy with a 50% chance to decrease Attack for 1 turn.Increases Effect Resistance by 30%. Has a 30% chance to counterattack when attacked, with a 100% chance to counterattack with Dragon Flame after suffering a critical hit.

Dragon Flame: Makes a critical hit, dealing damage proportional to the caster’s lost Health. When The Coming of Asura is available, increases Combat Readiness by 25%. This attack receives effects that are applied to the basic skill.
Burn Effect: Increases damage dealt.

Attacks all enemies with a powerful ground pound with a 55% chance to decrease Defense for 2 turns and increase Attack of the caster for 2 turns. A successful attack always results in a critical hit.

If you’re looking for a great balance between PvP & PvE content, Martial Artist Ken is an incredible counter-attacking hero.

Built-in effect resistance means you can add extra via items to make him pretty much invulnerable to debuffs. We all know how much bosses love to spread debuffs, or how PvP defense teams enjoy spreading them to make life miserable to any would-be attacker.

Ken really shines against debuff teams but he can also work just fine in any content.

Most DPS heroes in PvP are built for 100% crit rate, Martial Artist Ken always counter-attacks when he receives a critical hit. With a lifesteal set, as well as a fair bit of bulky defensive stats, he’ll easily heal back any damage he’s received.

Just search Reddit or YouTube for videos of him 1v4’ing entire teams, it’s mental!

1. Rem

Attribute: Ice

Class: Warrior

Recommended Set: Counter/Immunity

Recommended Artifact: Sigurd Scythe

How to get: 5* Limited Summon

Skills

Leave It To MeA Maid’s Pride (Passive)I Will Punish You!
Burn Effect: Increases effect chance to 100%.

Attacks the enemy with a morning star, with a 35% change to decrease Defense for 2 turns. When the caster is granted Demon Mode, grants the caster an extra attack with this skill.
When somebody dies, dispels all debuffs from the caster and grants Demon Mode for 2 turns. Can only be activated once every 5 turns. When an ally except for the caster is attacked, has a 15% chance to counterattack with Iron Strike. Iron Strike takes priority over a counterattack with a basic skill.

Iron Strike: Attacks all enemies, decreasing buff durations by 1 turn and making them unhealable for 1 turn.
Increases Attack of the caster for 3 turns, before leaping up to attack all enemies and decrease Hit Chance for 2 turns, before increasing Combat Readiness of the caster by 50%.

Rem is up there with the best PvP heroes in the game, as well as having some uses in PvE.

If you’re anywhere near Gold rank or above, you’ll have faced a well-built Rem many times. It’s never fun.

Her attack buffs are crazy, allowing her to deal a considerable amount of damage to an entire team, even if she’s at an elemental advantage.

Sigurd Scythe is recommended to provide some self-sustain, making her even more tricky to defeat.

You definitely want to build her full damage with a good amount of defensive stats. Don’t worry about speed, she doesn’t need any at all.

As a 5* Limited Summon, we’ll only see her once a year, twice if we’re lucky.

In terms of gameplay, there’s no better counter-attacking hero in Epic Seven than Rem!
