Top 10 Best Ritual Monsters In Yugioh

Ritual monsters have been ignored for a long time, of course for archetypes based around them. They don’t really fit into any decks that aren’t specifically designed to get them on the field, they’re often underwhelming when they are summoned. There are plenty of decent Ritual monsters, they’re really satisfying to summon and are great for casual fun decks. Finding a good one is hard though, here’s a list of the 10 best Ritual monsters!

10. Paladin of Photon Dragon

Paladin of Photon Dragon

That’s right, Paladin of White Dragon has new counterparts, the Paladin of Dark Dragon and Paladin of Photon Dragon. All three of them are decent but this is the best, it allows you to draw a card when it destroys a monster by battle. That effect by itself is good but the ability to tribute it for a Galaxy Eyes Photon Dragon makes this edge the other two for number 10 spot on the list.

9. Garlandolf, King of Destruction

Garlandolf King of Destruction

Able to nuke the field when summoned, Garlandolf is a great Ritual monster that can turn the tide of the game. It can fit right at home with most Dark/Fiend decks as you can use the monsters that you tributed for other monster effects, like Dark Necrofear or Dark Armed Dragon.

8. The Masked Beast

The Masked Beast

Boasting the 4th highest ATK out of any Ritual monster in the game, The Masked Beast is a powerful boss monster that again, slots into any Dark/Fiend deck. It has no effect which is why it’s so low on the list but with such high ATK, it had to make the cut.

7. Demise, King of Armageddon

Bit of a trend here, Dark/Fiend monsters appear to have a lot of good Ritual monsters. Demise, King of Armageddon has a devastating effect, simply pay 2000 life points to wipe all monsters/spells/traps off the field. Of course it nukes your field too but if you set up a strategy, you can use this to your advantage.

6. Divine Grace – Northwemko

Divine Grace Northwemko

This card can stay on the field for a while as its effect suggests. It prevents it from being destroyed by card effects, you don’t have to target one of your monsters for the requirements, simply any card on the field. There’s a myriad of strategies that can go with Divine Grace – Northwemko, most likely it’d be used in a stall deck of some sort.

5. Amorphactor Pain, the Imagination Dracoverlord

Amorphactor Pain the Imagination Dracoverlord

Dat name & effect description, so long.

Making your opponent skip their next main phase 1 is an insanely strong effect, it prevents them summoning, activating spells or setting traps until after their battle phase. This is a huge advantage, as is the other effect. Fusions, Synchros & XYZ monsters are no problem for Amorphactor as he negates their effects and likely defeats them in battle with its high ATK. And it has a 3rd recycle effect. Overall one of the best Ritual monsters out there, although not easy to summon.

4. Cyber Angel Vrash

Cyber Angel Vrash

The Cyber archetype have been receiving some love from Konami recently. Cyber Angel Vrash is a bit situational but can win you the game in that situation. It does require 10 levels as tribute but you can use other Ritual monsters to give Vrash ammunition for the secondary effect.

3. Odd-Eyes Gravity Dragon

Odd-Eyes Gravity Dragon

With a built in Giant Trunade for your opponent’s field only, Odd-Eyes Gravity Dragon is powerful as your opponent can’t negate it either. You can summon it and get some attacks or other special summons off, then charge your opponent 500 LP every time they try to activate an effect while Odd-Eyes is on the field.

2. Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon

Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon

This Blue-Eyes Ritual is insanely powerful, it has MAX power, that says enough. Once it’s on the field, your opponent will have to work hard to stop it, often wasting a lot of cards that could be put to much better use later on. If they don’t stop it then GG, you’ll decimate their life points in just a few attacks.

1. Herald of Ultimateness

Herald of Ultimateness

Negates for days. Stop your opponent from doing anything, keep your hand full of fairies, continue to prevent your opponent from summoning or activating. This comes at a heavy cost though as you need 12 stars worth of monsters to summon it. But it’s still undoubtedly the best Ritual monster in the game!

The big problem with Ritual monsters is getting them into your hand. Both Preparation of Rites, and Pre-Preparation of Rites can help, as can Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands, but each has limitations.

Unfortunately, with the way the game is going, with Extra-Link monsters taking both Extra Deck zones we'll probably have to figure out how to fit strong searchable Ritual monsters into our decks so that we're not dependent on the Extra Deck.
