In the increasing popular teamfight tactics game-mode, which is pretty much its own game, a large variety of factors affect each game. Items are one of them, the right item or two on one champion can carry the game. If you’ve played a few games, you’ve likely seen this yourself.
As of the time of writing this, items are almost completely RNG based. One game you’ll receive 3 or 4 during the early stages while in the next, you won’t get a single one. Regardless, you’ll need to know which items are best. I see so many team compositions ruined by useless item combinations. The strengths and weaknesses of each item should be noted too.
Riot are consistently releases drips of content and balance changes to teamfight tactics. These items could be updated at any time. I will make sure to edit where appropriate!
10. Titanic Hydra
Item Combination: Recurve Bow + Giant’s Belt
Boosting attack speed and health, Titanic Hydra synergises perfectly with front-line champions, such as Garen. Each basic attack will also hit all adjacent enemies for 10% of your maximum health.
So make sure to upgrade your front-line champion if it has Titanic Hydra, it can deal a surprising amount of damage over time!
9. Runaan’s Hurricane
Item Combination: Negatron Cloak + Spatula
The current Runaan’s Hurricane is different from the one coming in a future patch. I’ve specifically put the upcoming Runaan’s in 9th place, as it’ll be much stronger than the current one. As it stands, current Runaan’s Hurricane makes your attacks hit additional targets for 50% damage respectively.
New Runaan’s Hurricane will spawn a ghost of the champion, that attacks targets for 25% of original damage. Both items will increase Magic Resist by 20.
8. Statikk Shiv
Item Combination: Tear of the Goddess + Recurve Bow
Providing bonus starting mana of 20 and an increase to attack speed by 15%, Statikk Shiv goes well with champions who want to use their abilities more often, like Kennen. Every third attack by the champion wielding this weapon will hit adjacent targets for 100 magic damage too!
Item Combination: B.F. Sword + Negatron Cloak
All basic attacks will restore health equal to 50% of damage dealt with the Bloodthirster equipped. On its own, this weapon won’t do too much work but combined with others…it’s pretty insane!
Alongside the likes of Guinsoo’s Rageblade or Spear of Shojin, your champion will output a high amount of DPS while healing itself up.
6. Rabadon’s Deathcap
Item Combination: Needlessly Large Rod + Needlessly Large Rod
For an increase in spell damage, no other item in teamfight tactics is quite as effective as Rabadon’s Deathcap. Granting a nice ability power of 40 is only amplified by the passive, which boosts the entire ability power stat of the equipped champion!
Equip to the likes of Brand or Kennen for easy muli-kills.
Item Combination: Chain Vest + Chain Vest
Just like in the normal League of Legends game, Thornmail is by far the best defence against basic attackers. In addition to providing 40 armor, Thornmail reflects 50% of basic attack damage back to the attacker.
I’m increasingly seeing decked out ranged champions, especially with Guinsoo’s Rageblade. Thornmail alleviates these issues on its own!
4. Hextech Gunblade
Item Combination: B.F. Sword + Needlessly Large Rod
Hextech Gunblade works similar to Bloodthirster, only its much more refined around offensive. Providing both attack damage and ability power, this item is perfect for melee champions. Built in 25% healing on ALL damage – not just basic attacks – is most effective on champions that are in the thick of the fight.
3. Guinsoo’s Rageblade
Item Combination: Recurve Bow + Needlessly Large Rod
The king of attack speed, no other weapon suits ranged champions as much as Guinsoo’s Rageblade. In addition to providing a flat ability power boost of 20 and an attack speed boost of 15%, this item has an amazing passive.
Each basic attack will increase attack speed by 3%, stacking infinitely. Never have I been as salty as the time I faced a rank 3 Vayne with 2 Guinsoo’s Rageblade equipped and a Bloodthirster. If you can, always go for that strategy, it’s one of the best available.
2. Spear of Shojin
Item Combination: Tear of the Goddess + B.F. Sword
Considered by many to be a tad too powerful, the Spear of Shojin is the best offensive weapon in teamfight tactics. Giving the wielder a starting mana boost of 20, plus 20 attack damage. Its power comes in its passive, which has already been nerfed.
After casting an ability for the first time, each basic attack will refund 15% of the champion’s mana. Prior to the nerf, this mana was granted right from the eve of battle.
Pyke is absolutely disgusting with this item. His ability stuns several enemies and he can use it every few attacks with Spear of Shojin. Equipping 2 or even 3 will grant your army a guaranteed victory.
1. Force of Nature
Item Combination: Spatula + Spatula
Although it doesn’t boost any combat stats, Force of Nature is by far the best and most unique item in teamfight tactics. No longer seen in the main League of Legends gamemodes, you’ll want to obtain this as soon as you can.
If an army member is equipped with this item, it’ll boost your team size by 1. This stacks, so multiple Force of Natures mean multiple extra team members!
Items are extremely important for buffing your upgraded champions but an extra team slot is genuinely invaluable.
